Christopher Mulkern, age 21, was arrested on Thursday, Dec. 3, after Strafford Police officers spotted a stolen 2018 Porsche Panamera traveling on Bruce Ave., said Capt. Paul DosSantos.
When the driver, Mulkern, of Stratford, discovered police cars behind him, he accelerated into the car in front of him forcing it to the side of the road, and then entered the intersection crashing into a vehicle traveling on Boston Avenue, DosSantos said.
The stolen Porsche heavily damaged from the crash, continued to drive into Bridgeport and through the streets of the city, eventually getting onto I-95 south and then exiting at Exit 27, in an attempt to get away from officers, he added.
The Porsche was abandoned at the intersection of Park Avenue and Gregory Street in Bridgeport. Mulkern and a passenger, Edwin Cordoero Jr., 19, of Stratford were apprehended when they entered and attempted to drive off in a second stolen vehicle, a 2014 Audi A4, parked on Gregory Street, DosSantos said.
The. Porsche was reported stolen from Westport, and the Audi had been stolen from Old Saybrook. Fourteen key fobs to assorted cars, several mobile phones and credit cards were recovered.
During the arrest, it was discovered Mulkern had four active arrest warrants.
He was charged with:
- Evading responsibility/personal injury
- Possession of burglary tools
- Larceny
- Theft of auto plate
- Engaging police in pursuit
- Reckless driving
- Driving without a license
- Interfering with an officer
- Reckless endangerment
He was held on a $75,000 bond for the incident and an additional $75,000 on his active warrants.
